This annual herb has a sweet peppery taste served with potatoes, beans, soups, and stews. Grown next to beans it is purported to keep bean beetles away. Served with fresh from the garden string beans it compliments their flavor.
SOWING…Sow in full sunlight in early spring. Plant seeds ¼ inch deep in well drained soil.
THINNING…When plants are 2 inches tall thin to 6 inches apart each way.
GERMINATION…Germinates in 8 to 12 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKS…To develop stronger flavor harvest leaves before flowers develop. To dry for winter cut on bright day and dry quickly in the shade. Store in airtight jars.
