A perennial herb that can be harvested in the first year. Plant in permanent spot in herb garden. Can also be grown in planters or pots. Sage is widely used as poultry seasoning, in sausage, soups and stews.
SOWING…Plant seed outdoors as soon as the ground can be worked. May be planted as late as mid-summer for harvest in late fall or next year. Plant seeds 1 inch apart and cover with ½ inch of fine soil, well pressed down.
THINNING…When plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin or transplant 10 inches apart.
GERMINATION…Germinates in 14 to 20 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
REMARKS…Leaves can be cut anytime for fresh use. For winter use, cut entire plant and hang upside down to dry. Then remove leaves and pack in jars.Share
