The standard salad turnip of the South. This variety is grown principally for its tender foliage which may be cooked as “greens”. Also produces a white globed-shaped turnip of good quality. Tops are large, plentiful, and mild, delicate flavor.
SOWING…Plant seed outdoors as soon as the ground can be worked. Plant in rows 15 inches apart, spacing seed ½ inch apart in the row. Cover seed with ¼ inch of soil, well pressed down.
THINNING…When plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin or transplant, spacing plants 2 to 3 inches apart.
GERMINATION…Germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
REMARKS…For first crop, plant as early in spring as ground can be worked. Plant late in summer for fall crop.
