Tomato San Marzano Roma

Tomato San Marzano Roma

Matures in 76 Days After Setting Out Transplants

Indeterminate Plant Habit

Height 6 feet

This gourmet Italian heirloom tomato is considered the best for fresh sauce, paste, roasting and drying. The rich thick flesh with few seeds has a thin skin that makes it easy to peel.

SOWING…Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost date. Cover seed with ¼ inch of soilless mix. Providing heat under seed starting tray will promote germination. Keep evenly moist. Seed can be started directly in the garden after all danger of frost is past.

THINNING…When seedlings are 3-4 inches tall transplant into 4” containers. After danger of frost is past, transplant outside allowing for 2-3 feet in all directions. When transplanting remove lower leaves and bury the plant deep. The hairs on the stem will turn into roots and help support the plant as it grows.

GERMINATION…10-14 days depending on soil temperature.

REMARKS…These are indeterminate plants that will continue to produce fruit over a longer season than determinate plum tomatoes. Provide support; vines will grow to 6 feet tall.
