Matures in 70 Days From Setting Out Transplants
Heirloom variety that originated in France, this compact plant produces an abundance of 5-7” creamy white elongated fruits. Snow white flesh with a delicate texture is milder and much less bitter than purple eggplants. Young fruit do not need peeling.
SOW…seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost free date for your area. Plant seeds ¼” deep in moist soilless mix and water well. Place seed starting tray on a warm area. Once seedlings appear, supply 10-14 hours of light from direct sun or grow lights.
THIN…When seedlings are 3-4” tall, transplant each into 4” pots where they will remain until planting outside. Apply a diluted fertilizer when watering and continue 10-14 hours of exposure to direct light. Harden-off plants before transplanting into the garden.
GERMINATION…10-20 days depending on soil temperature and moisture conditions. Placing seed starting tray on a heat mat set at 85 degrees will hasten germination.
REMARKS…All eggplants are heat-loving plants, but Casper performs well even in cooler regions. Plants can become heavy with fruit, providing support when first planted is recommended.
