Harvest in 75 days
Butter & Sugar corn is still the most popular variety for home gardeners because of its balance between sugar and crunch with that ultimate corn taste. Most plants will produce two, 7 to 8 inch ears with a random assortment of golden yellow and creamy white kernels. Very good holding quality.
Sow...Plant corn seed in full sun directly in the garden when the soil has warmed to at least 70 degrees F and nighttime temps do not dip below 60 degrees F. Corn requires full sun and fertile soil. Plant seed 1.5" deep, 3-4 inches apart in blocks (4ft x 4ft) or in rows 24 inches apart.
Thin... When plants are 5 inches tall, thin to 10 inches apart. Corn is wind-pollinated and crowded plants may not produce full ears.
Germination... Germination in 8 to 15 days, depending on soil temperature.
Remarks... Corn is a heavy feeder so plant to fertilize 2 to 3 times during the growing season. Succession planting every few weeks until mid-summer will provide a continuous harvest. Pick when silks just start to turn brown.
