Height 4+ Feet
These early peas produce pods between 4 and 5 inches long. They are a cool-weather crop, sweet and tender, high yielding, uniform and productive, so they’re perfect for early spring planting. Great eaten raw or in salads and stir fries. Wilt resistant.
SOWING…Direct sow in early spring. This pea is a cool-season vegetable and can tolerate light frosts, even when the plants are small. Plant seeds 1 to 1 ½ inches deep and 1 to 2 inches apart in rows 18 to 24 inches apart. Keep soil moist but not wet. As vines grow, support with a stake or trellis that is at least 5 feet tall.
THINNING…When plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin to 4 to 6 inches apart.
GERMINATION…Germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKS…For snow peas, pick before the peas start to enlarge. For shell peas, if the pea pod is round and bright green, it’s time to pick.
