Portulaca Double
Portulaca Double
Annual
Height 6 inches
These will bear in the poorest soil and are desirable for hot, dry, sunny spots. They make excellent beds or borders and rock gardens. This variety contains mostly double blossoms but some singles will always occur.
SOWING…Plant seed outdoors after danger of frost is past or start indoors 4 to 6 weeks earlier. It is helpful to mix seed with sand before sowing, as the seed is extremely small. Barely cover seed with fine soil, well pressed down.
THINNING…When plants are 2 to 3 inches high, thin or transplant 5 inches apart each way.
GERMINATION…Germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKS…Portulaca does not normally need watering except during a prolonged drought. May be successfully planted outdoors as late as mid June.
