The aromatic leaves of this shrubby annual perennial may be used fresh or dried to provide a delightful seasoning to chicken, stew, and all meats. In mild winter areas, makes an excellent hedge. Elsewhere, it is best grown in moveable containers or as an evergreen.
SOWING…Sow seed outdoors as early in the spring as the ground can be worked. Plant in rows 12 inches apart, spacing seed 1 inch apart in the row. Cover seed with ⅛ inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Keep soil moist until seeds begin to grow.
THINNING…When plants are 2 inches tall, thin to 6 to 8 inches apart in the row.
GERMINATION…Rosemary seed routinely germinates poorly. The seed in this packet is of the highest quality available from the current crop and will germinate approximately 50% in 60 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKS…Flavor is best before plant blossoms. Pick leaves and sprigs as needed and use fresh or dry. Leaves may be frozen.
