This variety makes an excellent garnish and is used very extensively. It forms a dense dwarf growth of curled and crumpled leaves of a beautiful rich green color. Easy to grow in the garden or in pots during the winter, does well in sun or shade.
SOWING…Sow seed outdoors as early as the ground can be worked. Plant in rows 15 inches apart spacing seeds ½ inch apart in the row. Cover seed with ¼ inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Keep soil moist until plants start to grow.
THINNING…When plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin to 4 or 5 inches apart.
GERMINATION…Parsley is very slow to germinate requiring 3 to 4 weeks depending on soil and weather conditions. Soaking seeds for a few hours before planting can aid in germination.
REMARKS…Parsley is biannual and will often survive the winter. The second year plants will go to flower early in the season. A host plant for the caterpillars of the Black Swallowtail Butterfly.Share
