A popular vegetable used either raw or cooked, as a flavoring in salads, soups, sandwiches and stew. Spanish onions will grow quite large and sweet. This variety is not a winter keeper.
SOWING…Plant seed outdoors as soon as ground can be worked. For earlier crop start seed indoors 5-7 weeks before last frost and set out after last frost. Plant seed in rows 10 inches apart, spacing seed 1 inch apart in the row. Cover with ¼” fine soil well pressed down. Keep soil moist until seeds start to grow.
THINNING…When plants are 3 to 4 inches tall, thin or transplant 10 inches apart in the row.
GERMINATION…Germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKS…Cultivate and draw up earth well around plants so they are fairly well covered at all times. Water regularly and fertilize every 4-6 weeks.
