Poppy Shirley Double
Poppy Shirley Double
Annual
Height 1 ½ Feet
Originally this variety came from the common field poppy. The plants have deeply cut foliage, slender hairy stems, bearing silky petaled blossoms that are often fluted.
SOWING…Plant seed outdoors as soon as ground can be worked where they are to bloom, as Poppies do not transplant well. Seed is very fine and care must be taken not to bury too deeply. Plant in row 1 foot apart or mix with sand and broadcast. Cover with ⅛ inch finesoil, well pressed down.
THINNING…When plants are 3 to 4 inches tall, thin 12 to 15 inches apart.
GERMINATION…Germinates in 5 to 10 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKS…These flower in a few weeks from seed, so successive sowings as late as mid July provide continuous flowering.
