The French Marigold ‘Dainty Marietta’ is a dwarf marigold with small, bright yellow single flowers that have splashes of maroon at the center. Long blooming, they are perfect for containers, beds and borders, and the pollinator garden. A popular companion planting for veggies as they are known to help repel harmful pests.
SOWING…Sow seed outdoors after all danger of frost is past or start indoors 4 to 6 weeks earlier. Requires full sun in order to germinate. Plant seed ¼ inch deep and lightly cover with fine soil. Marigolds prefer a dry climate and don’t require much moisture.
THINNING…When plants are 1 to 2 inches tall, thin or transplant to 12 inches apart.
GERMINATION…Germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
REMARKS…Marigolds are among the most popular and easiest to grow of all flowers. Butterflies and beneficial insects are attracted to the flowers all throughout the summer. Cut dead flower heads to prolong blooming.
