Spring Maintenance!

Warmer weather is a time for pond inspection!

  1. Check your pond's edges and repair any settling or shifting.

  2. Check your electrical connections, lights, and pumps.

  3. Bring out your pump and filters, reconnect them, and make sure they are working properly.

  4. Clean out any pond debris.

  5. Start biological filters once the water temperature remains above 50 degrees F.  Once your filter is back in service, it will take a few weeks for the beneficial bacteria to reestablish. You can purchase a starter bacteria to speed up the colonization process.

  6. Check PH and water chemicals.

Late Spring!

Now is the time to add new aquatic plants and to remove any dead plant foliage from existing ones.

Divide water lilies, lotuses, and marginals.  Start giving lotuses fertilizer pellets twice a month; water lilies, once a month.

Fish will start to feed as the water temperature reaches toward 50 degrees F.

Please feel free to stop in our retail store for additional information regarding ponds, fish and aquatic plants.
